Hilo International Airport (ITO) is the closest airport to Hilo Town and the University. In some cases, airfares are lower to Kona International Airport (KOA), a 2.5 hr drive from Hilo.

Ground transportation is by car rental, shuttle or taxi ($10-$15, Hilo Airport to Hilo Town)

Public buses are not available to/from the airports. However, to promote mass transit, the County Council is currently offering free bus service to most other locations around the island.
