Travel to Bloomington

The 2007 AGA symposium will be held on the campus of Indiana University, located close to downtown Bloomington, Indiana, about 50 miles south of Indianapolis, Indiana.

To acquaint you with the scenic Bloomington campus, we invite you to take a virtual campus tour.

The IU Bloomington campus is a careful blend of traditional and modern architecture within a park-like environment. Made of locally quarried limestone, the University buildings add beauty and charm to the scenic campus. Bloomington offers the warmth of a small town and the sophistication of a cultural capital with international caliber performance in opera, music and theater.

Airport: The Indianapolis International Airport (Symbol: IND), served by most major domestic airline, is recommended as a destination for air flights. Limousine and bus shuttle services are available to Bloomington from Indianapolis, which is approximately 50 miles away.

Ground Transportation (from airport to campus and return)

Shuttle: Bloomington Shuttle

  • Service 9 times a day between 4 locations in Bloomington to Indianapolis airport and return. One of the four drop-off and pick-up locations is the Indiana Memorial Union.
    Note:  Bloomington Shuttle does not have a regularly scheduled stop at Willkie, but             drivers will drop you off at Willkie if requested.

  • When existing the Indianapolis airport, take I465 South
  • Exit I465 to the RIGHT on to Hwy 37, South
  • Proceed on Hwy 37 through Martinsville
  • Exit RIGHT off of Hwy 37 at College Ave and Walnut
  • Continue on College Ave to 7th Street
  • Turn LEFT on 7th
  • Turn RIGHT into the circle drive of the Indiana Memorial Union.

From Indianapolis airport to Willkie Residence Center

  • When existing the Indianapolis airport, take I465 South
  • Exit I465 to the RIGHT on to Hwy 37, South
  • Proceed on Hwy 37 through Martinsville
  • Exit RIGHT off of Hwy 37 at College Ave and Walnut
  • Turn LEFT on to By-Pass 46 (Ace Rent A Car & McDonald’s are on the corner)
  • Turn RIGHT on to 10th Street
  • Turn LEFT on to Union Street (Eigenmann Hall will be on your left at the corner of 10th and Union )
  • Turn RIGHT on to 7th Street (There is no street sign for 7th Street.  Mason Hall will be on your left at the corner of Union and 7th.  Turn RIGHT at Mason Hall.)
  • Turn LEFT on to Rose Ave. (There is no street sign for Rose Ave.  Rose Avenue is the first street on your LEFT, past Mason Hall.)

Check-in at Willkie:  There are 3 buildings in the Willkie complex – two high rise buildings and 1 low rise center building.  Check-in for housing is located in the first high rise building on Rose Ave on your left.

Parking

Participants who are lodged at the Indiana Memorial Union will receive free parking in one of two lots adjacent to the IMU.

Participants staying At Willkie Residential Center may purchase parking passes at the front desk of the Center when checking in. Current charges for residential housing parking passes are $5.00/day.

For those commuting or staying off campus, discounted parking coupons will be available at the registration check-in desk. These coupons are valid at either of the two parking lots adjacent to the IMU.

Otherwise, parking on campus is restricted. Visitors may park at a parking meter or in an attended parking lot. Parking on many neighborhood streets near campus is restricted between 8 am and 5 pm; these areas are marked by City of Bloomington signs.
