And make one of the recipes to imbibe during the meeting's social breakout  rooms (those of us west of the Atlantic may choose to stick to a mocktail then, and save a hard recipe for later - or not!)


 

COCKTAILS


Mountain Cocktail (Allen Moore) In honor of the original symposium location, Snowbird, Utah
1.5 oz Bourbon
0.5 oz dry Vermouth
0.5 oz sweet Vermouth
0.5 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
½ egg white
Combine all ingredients without ice and “dry shake”. Then add ice and shake again. Double strain into Nick and Nora glass and garnish with Luxardo maraschino cherry.
 
Aviation (lAllen Moore)
2 oz Plymouth gin
½ oz Luxardo Maraschino liqueur
½ teaspoon crème de violette
¾ oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
¼ oz simple syrup
Shake with ice. Strain into cocktail glass and granish with Luxardo maraschino cherry.
Corpse Reviver No. 2 (Butch Brodie)
3/4 Gin
3/4 Lillet Blanc (dry vermouth works)
3/4 Cointreau 
3/4 lemon juice
2 dashes absinthe
Shake with ice and strain. Crisp and refreshing with a hint of herbal from the Lillet

Papa Doble (Hemingway Daquiri—Butch Brodie)
2 Rum
1/2 fresh grapefruit juice
1/2 fresh lime juice
1/4 Luxardo
Shake with ice and strain, garnish with a lime wheel. Classic daiquiris that works in any season

Oaxacan Negroni  (Butch Brodie)
3/4 oz Mezcal
1 oz Gin
1/2 oz Aperol (or Campari)
3/4 oz sweet vermouth (dry vermouth works too, but less sweet)
1 dash angostura
Shake with ice, strain and serve with an ice cube. Kind of a warm weather vibe, but I’m currently a bit attached to it

Manhattan (Butch Brodie)
2 Rye
1 vermouth
2 dashes angostura
Stir with ice, strain.  Sublime with Few Rye if you can get it, and Cocchi Di Torino sweet vermouth.

The Journalist (Maria Orive)
2 ounces gin
1/2 ounce dry vermouth
1/2 ounce sweet vermouth
2 dashes fresh lemon juice
2 dashes curacao
1 dash Angostura bitters

Nancy's Fav (Nancy Chen)
Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and fill with ice. Stir well for 20 seconds and strain into chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon, if desired.
2 ounces gin
2 ounces grapefruit juice
1 ounce St. Germain
ice
optional: fresh sprig of rosemary, tarragon, lavender or sage

 

Holiday Cocktail or Mocktail (Maria Orive)



MOCKTAILS


Virgin Gimlet  (Butch Brodie)
1.5 club soda
4-5 slices cucumber 
1 lime juice
.5 simple syrup
Muddle the cucumber, shake everything except the soda with ice, strain and top with soda 
Really good as a basil gimlet if you sub the cucumber with 5-6 basil leaves
